May Content Update: Community Day, New Legendary, New Mega and More!

 

May Community Day – Alolan Geodude!
Starting off, we have the Community Day for May being Alolan Geodude. If you missed our previous post on all the details for the day, check them out here!

 

A ‘Mega’ May of events!
Here’s a list of the events lined up for the month of May 2022:

  • A Mega Moment: Mega evolutions are getting themselves a mega update! Pokémon that can Mega Evolve will be found more frequently in the wild until Sunday, May 1st, 2022, at 8pm local time. Not only this, but a Mega Kangaskhan Raid Day will be held on the same day between 11am and 2pm local time. Catch those Pokémon! 

  • Pikachu Air Adventures: Set your sights on the sky trainers as the first Legendary Pokémon to Mega Evolve within Pokémon GO are debuted, Mega Latias and Mega Latios! Both will be featured from Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022, to Sunday, May 8th, 2022. 

  • Water Festival: Keep an eye out trainer as a wave of Water-type Pokémon appear from Thursday, May 12th, 2022, to Friday, May 20th, 2022!

  • Alola to Alola: From Wednesday, May 25th, 2022, to Tuesday, May31st, 2022, we’ll look back all the adventures trainers have had this year found within Alola and celebrate!

 

May’s featured Raids!

During May, the guardian deity of Poni Island itself, the Legendary Pokémon Tapu Fini will be making its Pokémon GO debut within five-star raids. At the end of the month, the guardian deities of the four islands of Alola region will gather, allowing all to be seen within five-star raids – make sure you grab catch them while you can!

Here’s your raid rotations for the month of May:

 

Five-star raids

  • Until Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022, Therian Forme Landorus will be seen within five-star raids.

  • From Tuesday, May 10th, 2022, to Wednesday, May 25th, 2022, Tapu Fini will make its debut.

  • From Wednesday, May 25th, 2022, to Wednesday, June 1st, 2022, the guardians (Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu and Tapu Fini) can all be found within raids.

Mega raids

  • Until Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022, Mega Kangaskhan can be found.

  • From Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022, to Tuesday, May 10th, 2022, Mega Latias and Mega Latios will make their Pokémon GO debut.

  • From Tuesday, May 10th, 2022, to Wednesday, May 25th, 2022, Mega Blastoise can be found within raids.

  • From Wednesday, May 25th, 2022, to Wednesday, June 1st, 2022, Mega Altaria can be found within raids.

Raid Hours (Between 6pm – 7pm local time, every Wednesday)

  • May 4th: Mega Latias and Mega Latios 

  • May 11th, May 18th, May 25th: Tapu Fini

  • May 25th: Tapu Koko

  • May 25th: Tapu Lele

  • May 25th: Tapu Bulu

 

May Research breakthrough encounters and spotlight hours!

Between Sunday, May 1st, 2022, at 1pm to Wednesday, June 1st, 2022, at 1pm PDT (GMT -7) upon completing a Research breakthrough, you’ll be able to encounter an Alolan Grimer! And if you’re lucky, maybe even a shiny one.

 

Regarding spotlight hours (Which occur between 6pm – 7pm local time, every Tuesday), here’s your line-up and bonuses for May:

  • May 3rd: Wingull | 2x Candy for catching Pokémon

  • May 10th: Numel | 2x Candy for transferring Pokémon

  • May 17th: Magikarp | 2x XP for evolving Pokémon

  • May 24th: Seel | 2x Stardust for catching Pokémon

  • May 31st: Pikipek | 2x XP for catching Pokémon 

 

Extra May news!

 

  • During May, only of those who missed the Season of Heritage Timed Research cosmetics (Deino hat, Goomy hat and Noibat hat) can purchase them from within the in-game store.

  • A new widget will be available during early May! This new widget will give trainers the option to track their buddy Pokémon from their home screens. Showing them the walk distance to a new heart, their buddy’s feed level, mood, and if they have a gift for you!
